Ear to the Ground: Austin (SXSW)

To coincide with SXSW 2010, LimeWire Store has released Ear to the Ground: Austin. Curated by Austinist, this free 20-track sampler showcases a plethora of Austin, TX’s hottest indie acts, including Bear Claw, Brazos, Leatherbag, Wild America, and TV Torso. The sampler is available for download exclusively at LimeWire Store.

“We were so glad to be asked to curate an Ear to the Ground sampler for LimeWire Store,” said Paige Maguire, Austinist‘s Music Editor. “Austin’s music scene is dense and epic, and we think our mix represents some of the most exciting up-and-coming bands in the city. For those who have been here all along, or those just diving into our community, this sampler will be an excellent introduction to the incredible talent we have here in the ATX.”

“For many people, especially industry folks, Austin is synonymous with SXSW, the annual music conference/festival that hijacks the town each spring,” said Tom Monday, Director of Partner Relations at LimeWire Store. “But Austin has a diverse, thriving year-round music scene that is often overshadowed by the circus atmosphere of the festival. So we set out, with our new friends at Austinist, to make some noise on behalf of the musicians that live and play there the other 51 weeks of the year.”

In addition to the Austin sampler, LimeWire joins forces with a few partners, including IODA and Austinist, to sponsor a few SXSW 2010 events:

Performances by White Denim, Besnard Lakes, Washed Out, Small Black, Royal Bangs, Toro y Moi, Phantogram, Warpaint, Julianna Barwick, Yukon Blonde, First Aid Kit, Body Language, Anni Rossi, MyNameisJohnMichael, All Get Out, and Dan Black.
