iTunes 10.0 and introduction of Ping

My husband sent me an invite to try out the new iTunes and it comes with the ability to sign up with Ping for extra social interaction.

The Ping home page makes it easy to see recent activity and popular songs from the people you follow. To see what a specific person has been up to, just click on their name. If you find something you like in iTunes, you can tell everyone that follows you by clicking “Like.” You can also recommend a song, album, or a person’s activity – and add your own comment – by pressing Post. And remember, you can always remove any activity you create by clicking Remove from your Profile page.

Right now Ping is not offering much, I think they should have more artists on board before they launched, but I also don’t think it will be long before it updates immensely. I mean think about the artist database they have, it has to be the largest and most accurate music database in existence.

In a Ping push Apple has changed the iTunes docking logo. This is the only thing I’m hearing negative so far from people who have used iTunes for years. We’re all used to seeing the normal iTunes icon in our dock and now we’re seeing the Ping icon instead.

Another feature with iTunes 10 is the use of AirPlay.

iTunes 10 and AirPlay make it simple to play your favorite music in any room or everywhere in your house. Without a hitch. AirPlay wireless technology will be arriving inside speakers, AV receivers, and iPod accessories — making it possible to enjoy your entire iTunes Library — every song and every playlist — in every room.

  1. I’m sure there’s a way to get your music to play all over your house but Apple’s got a knack for making things easy to do. I’d really like to try out this AirPlay feature they’re rolling out.

I think tons of artists will get with Ping in the very near future. I just wish Facebook would stop being such bozos about letting Ping post statuses and likes to FB profiles.
