Tasseomancy is giving away a free download of the Heidi Mortenson remix of “Soft Feet” at Soundcloud.
The original version of the song is off of their recent album, Ulalume (out now on Out Of This Spark), on which the band expanded its scope to move beyond earlier acoustic arrangements, combining the rhythmic soundscapes of Popol Vuh and Comus with the dream-like state of Julee Cruise. The band is prepping for their upcoming performances in the US when they open for Austra in November. On tour, Sari and Romy Lightman’s live performance will be rounded out with the help of the highly talented, multi-instrumentalist Maya Postepski (of TRUST and Austra).
Tasseomancy is a continuation of what was a bare bones neo-folk duo. Formerly known as Ghost Bees, Sari and Romy Lightman have found a heavier, more ambient sound, ripe with dreamy, dissonant vocals, influenced by eastern song, drone music, phonography, and myth.
