This post wasn’t planned, but this morning when I pulled up my browser and the Google Doodle started drawing itself out and promising me a Square Dance… well, how can someone choose to NOT write about that… right?
If you get a chance to run through it then please do, otherwise the video is above this post.
So what’s all the square dance fuss about?
American graphic designer and filmmaker, Saul Bass, has been given a video Google Doodle to mark what would have been his 93rd birthday. For West Side Story (1961) Bass filmed the prologue, storyboarded the opening dance sequence, and created the ending title sequence. And apparently it’s retro enough that the Google Doodle Designers decided to have a wee bit of fun with it. Their animation includes some of his designs from film title credits, film posters and corporate logos.
