Being a mama I think the health of my family is super important. It’s a blessing that my oldest son is also pretty health conscious. As you may or may not know he won the 2013 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge last year and amazing things have continued to happen to him since then. He understand the importance of eating healthy and he enjoys cooking healthy, too!
Braeden, age 10, has created his own foundation called 3B Brae’s Brown Bags Foundation. He began this project after visiting the White House and attending the Kids’ State Dinner where he met both the President and the First Lady. This experience made such a HUGE impact on him and when Michelle Obama asked him how he could pay the experience forward he took it to heart and he hasn’t stopped since.
For Braeden the knowledge that there are a lot of people out there who do not know where their next meal will come from. His Brae’s Brown Bags are “to-go” bags which he gives to the homeless in his community so they have the opportunity to eat healthy snacks. To date he has given out over 800 bags to shelters, soup kitchens and even within his school district. The experience has been humbling.
He has also become quite the chef. I absolutely love when he cooks for our family. He has his own Pinterest account and we share recipes with each other that way. I know when I see him pull out his laptop in the kitchen that something delightful will be cooked shortly.
When we were at the White House one of our favorite dishes we were served was a cauliflower crust pizza. It was delicious. Campbell’s soup has a great recipe for something very similar which is included below with a bunch of other healthy recipes from them. They have a new campaign called “Address Your Heart” and they are asking people to really think about their lifestyles and whether or not they are healthy.
