The Sheepish Lion and Spook the Herd

spooktheherdDo you remember the old Disney short film about the lion who was raised by a sheep? His name was Lambert. He was a “sheepish lion” and all the lambs made fun of him growing up. Until one day a wolf comes around and in all his wolfish ways he wants to eat the mama sheep. Lambert realizes then that he is a lion. Not a sheep. He scares away the wolf and saves the sheep. My daughter loves this short film. She is three-years-old and all about the Disney classics. Thank you Netflix.

ANYWAY …

Why am I telling you this? Well, when I got an email talking about music from Spook the Herd my crazy mom brain files filtered down to Lambert. If you can follow the train of thought that’s awesome, if not, well than I tell you, I’m not really crazy, I’m just passionate. Passionate about my kids and music to name two things. Bat shit passionate.

Out of Boston is Spook The Herd made up of Jesse Weiss (Palehound/Grass Is Green) and Abe Kimball (Vending Machetes).

Spook The Herd are excited to announce the release of The Small Wins EP, the band’s first release together with Exploding In Sound Records. Set for release on June 17th.

Their track Slurpee Surf reminds me of something straight out of the 90s. Fuzzy grunge-esque and better on the second listen.

Consequence of Sound premiered the band’s new single “Slurpee Surf,” calling it the work of “a duo whose combined talents lead to songs that fall right in the middle of the spectrum between sugar and fuzz.
