So I knew it has been a few years since The War on Drugs released an album, but I’m not going to pretend I know what the album was or if it did well or what the singles might have been, because I have no idea. However, I did just stumble upon their latest track called “Pain” and I really liked it. So thank you Google Play Radio for sharing this new release with me, I doubt I would have heard it otherwise. And looks, I liked it enough that I logged in to write about it, when is the last time that happened? Well in all fairness I did just share a video from Ziggy Marley so I guess it hasn’t been that long, but prior to the island music I had written about something music since December!
Onto The War on Drugs…
A Deeper Understanding is the bands fourth album, due for arrival August 25th, via Atlantic Records. This is their first album under the new label, they used to be Secretly Canadian. Eh.
This band is from Philly, which I very much appreciate since that’s only about 40 minutes from me, less if you drive like my brother. They’ve been around over a decade now since 2005. They’re currently touring, obviously, since they are releasing an album. They’ll be in Philly in September, at the Dell Music Center, in case you’re interested. They’ll be heading overseas in November.
I was staring into the light
When I saw you in the distance, I knew that you’d be mine
Am I moving back in time
Just standing still
