So great are The Spring Standards!

Could it be, could it be this be love? We have all asked ourselves that question. Yes, even you. It makes me think of rocking out and jumping around with my arms swinging over my head or strumming my air guitar. Feet in pink Converse hitting black pavement, pointed inward up and down to the beat of “Here We Go” a sweet track by an awesome band that calls themselves “The Spring Standards.”

The Spring Standards have been told many things about their music since their start in 2008. If you pick out all of the lyrics and embrace them for what they are then maybe it’s painful, maybe it’s confusing. I don’t get that in what I have heard. If you just jump along, let the music hit you… then it’s just fun and fresh. Acoustic instruments, harmonizing voices and people who love what they’re doing, it is simply sweet.

This band consists of three kids who grew up together in the woods and creeks of the Delaware/Pennsylvania border, their shared memories take them down winding back roads to starry open fields on quiet summer nights. And hey I probably know those roads seeing as how I am a fellow Delawarean myself. Isn’t it lovely when you find artists from your hometown and you like them!? Giddiness ensues!

In yellow//gold, The Spring Standards deliver 2 EPs that can be described as a set of fraternal twins, metamorphic stages, or acts in a drama. yellow // gold was recorded over the course of 2011 at Sounds Like a Fire Studio in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. It features some of Brooklyn’s finest and a lot of delicious food was eaten during its creation. Flush with rolling piano, wistful strings, and brittle to booming percussion, the power of yellow//gold comes from The Spring Standard’s understanding that these are two different yet related stories that complicate and illuminate each other.

It will be released in May 2012. Below is one of the tracks and I know you will love it!
