She begins her video by saying, “So, back to school mania. It’s crazy, and I’ve got it times four. So, the only way that I’m going to survive the chaos is to get really, super organized. So, I’ve got a bunch of different things that I do to help manage that crazy time.” I almost jumped ship when she was talking about being super organized because I try and I fail, miserably. But I kept watching and listening and her tips really do make sense, but more importantly they seem plausible. I think I can work with these ideas. :)
Burke-Charvet is among good company at Kids in the House, which features more than 8,000 videos from 450 experts. Many of the videos help parents cope with the anxiety of starting the new school year but the site has seen Burke-Charvet’s video receive an overwhelmingly positive response.
“Sometimes advice from a parent who has hard-earned wisdom to share can be the most helpful,” says Parenting Trend Expert and Founder of Kids in the House, Leana Greene. “Brooke Burke-Charvet gives great tips on how to get organized and make going back to school a drama-free event. As a mother of four, Brooke has personal experience to share on how difficult it is to make it all balance as a working mom.”
There is a commercial which plays on the radio nearly every morning on my way to work and it gets me every time. Oddly enough it is about Scotts Snap lawn care. See the dude who talks in the commercial sounds like Mike Myer’s character, Stuart Mackenzie, in “So I Married an Axe Murderer” which is a favorite movie of mine. I guess the accent is Scottish? Either way I love it when the guy is talking about the lawn care product and he says “Feed your lawn today. Feed it.” All I can hear is the father from the movie and it cracks me up.
So our backyard has this one massively long plot of grass straight in the middle and then all around it is bare dirt. My husband has tried to get grass to grow, he’s put down seed, but thanks to the incline of our yard and the shade from the trees the seeds never take. So this radio commercial talks about how it doesn’t have to take rocket science to get your lawn to look nice. You just need to follow Scotts® Snap® Spreader System which is four easy steps and then you’re golden…er green rather.
There’s no cutting, no opening and no pouring from heavy bags – no spilling or waste. You simply “Snap,” “Lock,” “Go,” and “Store.” So this gives you a way to use all of their products with one simple spreader tool which makes things even steven all along your yard. PERFECT!

The Blog Dare for today is one I’m really not too keen on posting about because it asks what we wish we didn’t buy this holiday season. And I have to be honest, I’m pretty happy with the gifts I both gave and received. I don’t think I would have done anything different. I guess the only thing in hindsight that I noticed was that Santa had more things wrapped under the tree for our youngest son, but my husband reminded me it is because our oldest son had “bigger” gifts like his Yamaha Keyboard.
I feel like I got some really great deals this year by starting early and getting a few gifts at a time over a longer period. I made sure to sign up for every “bargain” email newsletter I could find on all the mommy blogs out there. I enter giveaways and that was also helpful, some of the items I was able to give as gifts I only had to pay shipping for and I mean you really just can’t beat that! So not only did I feel amazing for giving such great gifts, but I felt glorious for knowing I did pretty well with the budget… Ok. Well maybe once I realized I was doing well then I did splurge and go crazy at the end and so now I’m penny pinching and eating left overs and pea soup but still. The idea was there in the beginning and that has to count for something, right?
As the time grows more near to actually being a home owner, it is imperative that I become even more obsessed with interior design and home furnishing. Haha.
And so welcome to Jadora. They say their “goal is to provide something new to the furniture market without forgoing the essence of tradition.”
There is a delightful Curio dresser, but could also be used as a buffet table. The website gives this description…”The versatility of the Curio Dresser allows for use as a buffet or bedroom dresser. Top keepsake boxes lift to reveal hidden storage for either serving pieces or jewelry. Top drawers pull out; bottom compartments open from top.”
But my favorite piece on the site is their giant armchair. I love it and wish I could crawl into my monitor right now and curl into the seat. =o) There is a matching sofa and ottoman, but my heart belongs to the armchair and if ever I own it…well…it will be MY seat. You know what I mean? Haha.
Gracious, I need to start making some extra money. Haha.
