My first Groovebook of photos @groovebookapp

groovebookRemember me talking about Groovebook?

Well I have my first Groovebook and have shared it with family and friends. So far my friends have been impressed, they love the look of the book that you get in the mail. The soft cover is pretty sturdy which is nice. I’m still amazed the book is only $2.99.

Having received the book I can tell you the paper quality inside is glossy and thin, much like a sheet of magazine paper. If you tear one out of the book (there are perforated edges) then definitely hang it in your cubicle or frame it right away because it’s paper you could easily rip.

Also, remember Groovebook is “sort of” subscription based. Your last 100 photos taken will be printed in your next book if you do not pre-select the ones you wish to have printed OR opt to skip the next month. I think that is probably the most annoying feature of Groovebook.

However, I will say I am very excited to know my next book will be of the photos from my trip to Washington, DC with Braeden when we attended the Kids’ State Dinner at The White House.

So for those of us who take a million photos with our iPhone this app is super cool, the book you get is like a little brag book you can carry around and share with people. Or you can right the month and year on the spine of the book and start a collection. (Note that if you go through the photos a lot the pages do fall out, at least I have found this to be the case with mine).

For $2.99 I think it is a really great deal. I know a lot of photogs who use their smartphones all the time while shooting out in the street and they could create great proofbooks with this app so that is a thought as well. And for those of you who use instagram you can create a book of your instagram shots which I know a lot of people would be interested in doing.

You can use the promo code: MANNERING2 if you are interested in trying it out!

White feathers and Google Play leave me streaming Melodies

PsyfeathersHaving just been out on maternity leave for 10 weeks I lost touch with a lot. Seriously, it has been shameful, I didn’t know who the white-feathered dude on stage during the New Year’s Eve celebrations was and when he started jumping around with MC Hammer, dancing all horse-like I was just amazed he was allowed stage time. So I found out his name is Psy. Then I asked out loud (to my husband and our three kids) what the hell he was wearing, singing and doing!? What is this Gangnam Style and WHY WHY has it taken over social media. Of all things to go viral, really people horse dancing? Yes, I’m not with the times and in this case that is okay with me.

The only thing that could make Psy and his Gangnam business remotely interesting to me is the fact that UDance did a Gangnam Style flash mob on the University of Delaware’s Green while I was out. Had I been in my office at UD I probably would have gone up-campus to see it in person. Fortunately for me there is YouTube.

google-play_616Another things I had not been aware of was the music player Google released. Google Play, which also stores books and games, allows for 20,000 songs to be uploaded and then streamed from anywhere via your Google Login. I can create playlists at home and listen to them at work. It’s lovely, DRM Free and I’m giddy. Plus the Google Music Store is MUCH cheaper than the Apple Music Store. Let me tell you how much $1.29 for ONE song infuriated me! OH IT DID!

What is in your Work Playlist? I can tell you what is NOT in mine and that would be Gangnam Style. I have some Fun., Foster the People, Imagine Dragons, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, U2, Def Leppard, Lee Brice and Zac Brown Band to name a handful.

Even though it’s easier to stream on Android based phones, I was able to find an app for my iPhone, too. With the Melodies app on my iPhone I can stream during my drive or while in the shower.

Google Play = Awesomeness

There is an app for that, stay tuned karaoke lovers

Sing Me Something“! It’s karaoke with a twist and a great way of interacting with friends and people across the globe.

The exciting new Sing me something app is refreshing, fun and a great way of socialising with fellow musical enthusiasts.

A player is given a selection of three songs (complete with melody and lyrics to help the player achieve the best recording possible) then picks a tune, sings and records it for another user to listen to. The other player then has to guess what the song is!

Functional Karaoke on the phone: It’s actually a functional Karaoke bar on your phone. Easy to download from the app store, free to use, Sing Me Something allows you to record as you sing the song with the option to playback.

Sing Me Something is available on iPhone app store and at the Android app market, and allows users to save their songs, access play stats and even rank other people’s singing talents, making it a great all-rounder.

A simple yet colourful layout combined with a great concept for entertainment, this new app is sure to be the next big thing.

A not so secret, SECRET PAGE, by the band “Say No”

Music influenced by the Sex Pistols, Oasis and Kasabian? Hmm. The band “SAY NO” has a new Link to this Secret Page which will allow fans to check out SEVEN tracks off their upcoming album.

Also if you vote on the page you can get a free copy of the first single before the release date. But wait, the band has done Prices Right style and given MORE chances to win! And in this instance you really just can’t say no, right? There’s a chance to win an iPad or $50 iTunes gift card. Come on! SO you get to heard tracks from the upcoming release, you get to download a copy of the first single if you vote AND you might win an iPad or $50 iTunes Gift card. I’d say it’s worth clicking and checking out simple for those odds!

The SAY NO super secret fan page (which obviously won’t be so super secret after this post) can be found here: Say No Secret Page

I am very much amused by their website because normally when you get to a band’s main home page you are brought to information about the band. Their bio or press kit is right there to look through, but SAY NO’s main page simply says “Who cares about a bio? Listen to our music.” Wow, so much for web keywords they are THAT confident in the tracks, so confident they want to share a bunch because they know you will be inclined to buy their highly-anticipate album which comes out this year.

So go for it!

Code Red iPhone App, is a must have (must for guys)

Alright, some of you might think this is weird or gross or both, but I’m writing about it anyway.

I told my husband he should download the iPhone app called Code Red.

It’s all about tracking your period. Yes, I know, he is a guy and so why does he need that? I’ll tell you why, because it’s helpful. Trust me.

It pushes alerts to him complete with tips on how my body is feeling, I’m serious. And it’s pretty spot on… no pun intended.

So it will tell him “Code Red” when it is my time of the month. And it will tell him when things smooth sailing. But it will also tell him when I am ovulating and even when I am supposedly horny.

Sorry for anyone related to me who is reading this and completely freaking out. I am related to a lot of pretty conservative people and the mere fact that I am writing about my period and have just written the word horny, not once, but twice is probably making their faces red and their stomachs queasy.

Examples when an “Ovulation Alert” comes up it will say something like “She is fertile! Here are some tips to keep you from ruining a sure thing.” It’s pretty funny. And you know what, since I recommended this to my husband I think he has actually paid attention to it. Because he was definitely more attentive during my time of the month. And he text messaged me to see how I was feeling and said he hoped my day wasn’t too hard.

When it’s the time of the month right before her period and her breasts are seriously killing her, the app will tell you that they are aching, but not for you. It’s serious, so laugh to yourself because you were given a heads up by Code Red, but don’t touch her, got it?

So if you are a lady who wants to track your cycle then this is a great app. And if you’re a guy who wants to be in the know about your lady then this is a great app. I know it seems weird, trust me, but I’m so serious, it’s really helpful. And when it tells you to “Rediscover Sade” laugh, but take the tip ;)
