John Mayer and his Blue Steel pose

john-mayerWhat in gods name is John Mayer thinking with this photo from his most recent photo shoot? Who dressed him and told him to pose like that? This isn’t an underwear commercial or a Victoria Secret Runway. I mean I know he isn’t scantily clad but look at that ridiculous pose and outfit, he’s like Zoolander! What the heck!?

ohn Mayer’s new album Paradise Valley is available to stream in its entirety exclusively on iTunes beginning today (iTunes.com/JohnMayer). The album will be available to stream until August 20th.

Paradise Valley, the latest album from Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician John Mayer, will be released on August 19, and is available now to pre-order on iTunes.  Mayer produced Paradise Valley with longtime collaborator Don Was, who also co-produced Mayer’s #1 charting Gold-certified 2012 release Born and Raised, and has worked on albums for acts such as the Rolling Stones, B.B. King and Bonnie Raitt.

“Paper Doll,” the first single from Paradise Valley, is available now on iTunes, and the lyric video already has more than 3 million views.  People gave the “bittersweet beauty” 3 1/2 stars and Billboard called it “a perfectly crafted pop song,” remarking that “Mayer’s voice has triumphantly returned.”  Mayer performed “Paper Doll,” as well as previous hits “Waiting On The World To Change” and “Queen of California,” on the Today Show on July 5.

Fans who pre-order the album on iTunes will instantly receive a download of the track “Wildfire.”  A lyric video for “Wildfire,” featuring footage of Mayer performing live, was posted today and can be viewed here:

A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III

CS3Featuring an original score by Liam Hayes, who has made music under the name Plush since the early 90’s, today we announce the soundtrack for the motion picture, “A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III.” The soundtrack is available February 5th for digital download and March 19th on CD and LP on Night Fever Music. Along with a heavy synth, country and western performed by Jason Schwartzman, the soundtrack also contains a beautiful cover of the Brazilian classic “Aguas de Marco,” performed by Katheryn Winnick & Charlie Sheen. “Aguas de Marco” just premiered on Rolling Stone and you can stream the track below. Starring an all-star cast including Charlie Sheen, Bill Murray, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jason Schwartzman, and Patricia Arquette, “A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III” is a playful comedy of lost love, friendship, revenge fantasies, and Brandy Alexanders. With the support of his loyal intimates— Kirby (Jason Schwartzman), Saul (Bill Murray), and his sister, Izzy (Patricia Arquette) — he begins the hard road of self-evaluation to come to terms with a life without Ivana. New iTunes Session from fun.

Nate from the band fun. about the their six GRAMMY nominations!

“Wild Night”. That’s what Jack has been saying a lot in the emails we’ve all been replying to from friends, family, and colleagues who have sent their congrats in regards to our recent Grammy nomnom’s. Looking back, I’ve used a “Wild Night” or two myself. Truth is, it’s been a pretty wild year, and this is a pretty incredible way to cap it off. Like…crazy. Just like everything else that’s come our way in all our years of making music, we aren’t taking this for granted. And we certainly aren’t taking the support we’ve received from a lot of you through all these years for granted. Without you guys constantly lifting us up and carrying us through the rough nights we would never have been able to make “Some Nights”. Thank you guys for playing such a massive part in this “Wild Night”. Let’s have some more. – Nate

Now, Now release new mp3 and appear on NPR All Songs Considered

Now, Now and Trans- Records are excited for the upcoming March 6th release of Threads, the highly anticipated sophomore album from the Minneapolis trio. I think Cacie Dalager’s voice is heavenly and I’ve only just heard of Now, Now.

Fans will have a chance to hear even more new material off the album this week as the song “Thread” has been made available for free download, and the songs “The Pull” and “Prehistoric” have made their public debut on NPR All Songs Considered.

You can stream the music at NPR’s website.

The band are now offering up the album for physical pre-order in both CD and Vinyl formats on their web store, and Threads is available for digital pre-order on iTunes as well.

Now, Now, is composed of Cacie Dalager (Vocals, Guitar), Jess Abbott (Vocals, Guitar), and Brad Hale (Drums, Synth). This past June they recorded their new album Threads with producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, New Pornographers, An Horse) in Vancouver, BC. It was earlier in the spring of 2011 that Now, Now began to solidify a relationship with Trans- Records founder and Death Cab For Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla. Threads will be released by Trans- Records on March 6th 2012.

Our Lady Peace set to release 8th studio album

I’m a fan of Our Lady Peace by what is up with their latest album’s cover art? The creepy face coupled with all the body hair gives me the heebie jeebies. Not a fan of the cover, not a fan at all.

Our Lady Peace have proven fighters in the two decades since they formed in Toronto, a fitting theme for “Heavyweight,” the first single from their upcoming, eighth studio album, Curve, which is slated for release on April 3, 2012.

“This is the record we’ve been trying to make for the past 10 years. There’s something to be said about being beaten up and being able to dust yourself off and get back in the ring,” says vocalist/lyricist and founding member Raine Maida about the new album, which was once again recorded in Toronto and his own L.A. home recording studio with co-producer Jason Lader.  Lader’s impressive resume includes production work on Jay-Z’s “99 Problems,” along with Mars Volta, Julian Casablancas, Rilo Kiley, Elvis Costello and Noah & the Whale.

“Jason and I had a very frank discussion about the early recordings of Curve before he came in,” says Maida.  “He asked why we weren’t making a record that we’d like to listen to ourselves. That was our impetus for abandoning what we started, bringing in Jason and truly challenging ourselves to come up with something more authentic and inspired. He helped us operate without the filter predicated by walking the major label tightrope.”

“Heavyweight” was made available on iTunes through Coalition Records on December 20 to the band’s loyal fans.  Many Canadian Rock Radio stations bought the song from iTunes and immediately began playing it for their listeners.  The track has had a steady climb up the charts and is currently Top 10 at all Rock Radio formats.

Curve is the result of the band taking creative and artistic risks with their proven methods, featuring such dynamic new songs such as “Mettle,” “Fire In The Henhouse,” “As Fast As You Can,” “Window Seat,” and “Rabbits.”

“While writing for Curve the focus was on being musically brave,” states bassist Duncan Coutts. ” It became the mantra in our sessions.”

“This feels the most like it did in the early days,” says drummer Jeremy Taggart, who has been with the band from the start, since he was 17. “We just tried to let our ideas flow without worrying about radio or anything like that. It’s easier to be creative when you let something grow naturally as opposed to trying to fit in into something.”

And while Raine has been getting recognition for his social activism, the new album is personal, not political. He recently recorded an agitprop protest anthem, “Fight the Good Fight,” which is included on the Occupy This Album (out spring), with artists including Yoko Ono, Debbie Harry, Willie Nelson, Tom Morello, Joan Baez, Steve Earle & James McMurtry and Mogwai, among others, as well as being involved in organizations like War Child, targeting at-risk youth in war-torn countries, and Apathy is Boring.

Says Raine, “Curve is more about us, going through this reawakening and independence and hopefully creating a deeper connection with our audience.”

Our Lady Peace will hit the road on a North American headline tour kicking off March 29 in London, ON with stops along the way to New York CIty, Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle.
