Keith Urban Premieres New Single From Act Of Valor Soundtrack

Tickets to see Keith Urban went on sale this morning courtesy of LiveNation.com for his show in August at the Borgata in Atlantic City. I thought I’d surprise my husband with a pair for us so I went online as soon a they went on sale and logged in to see that general admission tickets were $125 EACH. Surprise babe, we’re NOT going to see Keith Urban at the Borgata, but here is a post about his latest single instead.

Keith Urban has taken on a new challenge writing and recording his first song specifically for a motion picture. The track “For You” has just been premiered on Yahoo! Music and can now be heard in its entirety on the site. The track will be featured during Act Of Valor’s end credits.

Urban noted, “I was drawn to a scene in the film where you witness an act of supreme self-sacrifice. And I thought to myself, I see what they believe in. I see what they live their life for.”

The film hits theatres February 24, 2012.

“For You” Marks Urban’s First Song Ever Written For a Movie

Who would you give your life for?

Relativity Media is pleased to announce its upcoming collaboration with Grammy® Award-winner Keith Urban for the heart-pounding Navy SEAL action-thriller Act of Valor.Urban’s “For You,” co-written by Urban and Monty Powell, marks the first time that Urban has written and recorded a song specifically for a motion picture, and it will be featured during the film’s end credits. In theatres February 24, 2012, the Bandito Brothers’ Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs along with Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nestor Serrano and tells a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Urban’s current single “You Gonna Fly” is currently #10 on the country radio charts and climbing.

“I loved the challenge of writing for a film,” said Urban. “I’ve never done that before. After seeing Act Of Valor, my co-writer (Monty Powell) and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us. ‘Valor’ shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘what am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”

“For You” was co-produced by Dan Huff and Urban and was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Starstruck Studios. The song was engineered by Mark Dobson and Todd Tidwell, mixed by Mike Shipley at Animal House, and mastered by Brent Blackwood at Euphonic Masters.

The Act of Valor soundtrack, featuring the song “For You” by Urban, will be available digitally on iTunes® and physically in music retail locations on Tuesday, February 21st. Also to be announced, are additional original songs inspired by the film from more of today’s top country music artists.

Keith Urban was also recently nominated for International Artist and Music Video of the Year awards for Australia’s 2012 Country Music Channel Awards.

JT to climb Kilimanjaro; Hugh Jackman Happy Naked

Justin Timberlake and rapper Lupe Fiasco have been recruited by pop singer Kenna to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this autumn in a bid to raise money for charity.

The trio will be joined by a team of adventurers assembled by Ethiopian-born Kenna as they scale the 19,000-foot African peak as part of a fundraising and awareness effort for the worldwide water crisis. The mammoth climb will serve as a personal triumph for Kenna, who almost lost his father to the water shortage.

He tells Elle magazine, “My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there, and I thought, ‘I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out.'”

Hugh Jackman is happy to get naked on screen.

“I’m not really worried. Probably too many skinny-dipping parties as a young man. Sometimes there can be so much effort when people put on a sock and tape it up here and there. I know they can’t have my willy in shot so I just figure, what the hell?”

Miley Cyrus admits her boyfriend found it “hard” to watch her kiss another guy.

The actress, 16 – who locks lips with costar Lucas Till in Hannah Montana: The Movie – says underwear model Justin Gaston, 20, struggled to watch the steamy scenes.

Actor Skylar DeLeon has been sentenced to death for murdering Arizona couple Tom and Jackie Hawks.

The former child star and Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers regular has been convicted of chaining the couple to the anchor of the luxury yacht they were trying to sell him and throwing them overboard in 2004. Their bodies have never been found.

Deleon then claimed the boat as his own.

Nicole Kidman is planning to dress up as the Easter bunny.

The Golden Compass star — who is married to country music singer Keith Urban — says she’ll be sporting rabbit ears and a basket full of eggs, but only for her nearest and dearest.

She dishes, “We’re doing the whole Easter bunny thing over Easter.

“The whole family is getting together and we’ll do the egg hunt and maybe even a sack race!”

Keith Urban Escape Together World Tour Dates

Keith Urban, who is set to release his fifth studio album next month (March 31, 2009), has revealed the first round of dates for his upcoming “Escape Together World Tour.” So far, the country star has 30 stops booked across the country through August, and the outing is expected to grow to more than 50 North American dates.

The artist will be joined by Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and the Zac Brown Band on select tour dates.

A select number of seats on his Escape Together World Tour will be sold for $20 each, and the excess transaction fees for the bargain passes have been waived.

Keith says, “It’s easy to see that people out there are hurting. And if these ticket prices can help some of them to let loose, forget about their daily grind and enjoy a night of music, then that’s what we intend to give them and everyone else that comes out to our shows.”

He’ll be near me on August 1, 2009 at the Wachovia Center. =o)
