Yes of course I own both Men in Black movies. I absolutely LOVE Will Smith. This is not a secret to anyone. I also very much like science fiction and fantasy so it helps the genre and one of my favorite actors are oh so lovingly combined in the Men In Black movies. ;) The big question here is how it will stand up against the block buster Avengers which began playing in theaters two weeks ago?
With a tagline like “They are back… in time.” You kind of get the impression this is Back to the Future-esque and it does seem to be that way from the movie synopsis which explains Agent J must save Agent K in the past so he will be there in the future. Josh Brolin plays the younger “Agent K” and we all know Tommy Lee Jones is the older “Agent K.”
Nerdist: No disrespect to Men in Black II, but MIB3 seems to make a much better connection with the first film than the second. Was that intentional?
Barry Sonnenfeld: Absolutely. We were trying to match more of the tone of the first than the second film. On that second film, we sort of forgot a few things. The second film, I think, tried a little too hard for “comedy” and also the first and third films have very strong villains. The second film, although Johnny Knoxville and Laura Flynn Boyle are funny, they’re not really quite strong enough to make your heroes be heroic. I think we learnt our lessons and went back tonally to the first film.

Dunkin Donuts is doing some marketing for MIB3. They have face time in the MIB3 mobile app and they are touting their new Black Cocoa Crème Iced Coffee as the perfect drink to have nearby while watching the movie this weekend. There is also a new “Undercover Black Cocoa Donut” to try out.
Sony Pictures Entertainment confirmed that six minutes of the highly anticipated film The Amazing Spider-Man™ will be shown in IMAX® 3D and other select theaters with Men In Black™ 3. Many reasons to check it our this weekend, even if you’re not a diehard Will Smith fan which truthfully I cannot possibly imagine.
