You are the Gypsy to my Cat

“This band is like a pot of synth gold at the end of the pop rainbow.”…Neon Gold

Signed directly to Sony RCA in the UK, the duo of 21-year-old Xavier Bacash and 24-year-old Lionel Towers only began making music together a year ago in a garage in Melbourne. After writing, performing and producing their debut album themselves, Gypsy & The Cat enlisted David Fridmann (MGMT, Flaming Lips) and Rich Costey (Muse) for final mixing duties.

After producing and recording their album in their Melbourne home studio, Gypsy & the Cat moved to London and mixed their debut album with David Fridmann (of Mercury Rev fame and producer of MGMT, Flaming Lips, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to name a few) and Rich Costey (Producer of amongst others, Muse, Mew, Franz Ferdinand, Glasvegas).

Gotta tell you, I’m not sure what Neon Gold was trying to say with their previous quote, but I liked it. I could listen to “The Piper’s Song” all day long and not get tired of it. It’s just one of those songs that cheers me up and gets me smiling. Which then makes my coworkers look at me funny as I have one earbud in and am typing away with a big grin on my face at the computer. Yeah, look on office mate, I found the Gypsy to my Cat and you wouldn’t understand.

Quick run down on the Grammy’s

Train won their third Grammy Award last night as the iTunes Session version of their hit song “Hey, Soul Sister” took home the award for Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Train’s iTunes Session EP features original performances by the band available exclusively on iTunes. This award marks the first Grammy win for iTunes original content.

Train frontman Pat Monahan said, “It’s been beyond our wildest dreams to have the success we have had this past year, and a Grammy completely takes it over the top. We can’t thank our fans enough for always sticking with us.”

I for one love their latest single “Marry Me,” which has been certified “gold” so far. The song continues its ascent up the radio charts, and is currently reaching 24 million people in audience.

Lady Antebellum, on the other hand, picked up five prizes, including song and record of the year. It marked the second consecutive year that a country act dominated the event, after Taylor Swift grabbed the Grammy glory in 2010.

The members of Lady Antebellum said they were left in tears backstage by their unexpected wins, which also included three awards in the country field, all generated by their album “Need You Now.”

“We’ll probably never have one of these moments ever again in our career,” said singer Charles Kelley. “You’re not going to win five Grammys ever again. We know that, we’re realistic. So we’re gonna try to soak it up.”

The number one prize of top album of the year went to Arcade Fire. Awesomeness.

Flamboyant pop singer Lady Gaga and rapper Jay-Z won three awards each, both of them beating Eminem along the way.

Could it be love for Kate Hudson?

She’s such the girl next door and I would love to see her in love, but I feel like she is always with someone else when I check up on her in the media. And then I think why am I checking up on a celebrity who I will never actually know… but anyway.

Reports are stating that things are pretty serious between Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy.

Matt Bellamy’s parents are to spend Christmas with Kate Hudson’s family.

The Muse frontman plans to take Marilyn and George — who are divorced — from their homes in Exeter, South West England to California for the festive season to enjoy a big family celebration with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, which will be the debut meeting for all of them.

The pair have been dating for around five months.
