The fascination with things which sparkle

CustomEngagementRing_HT2530ASssshh don’t tell my husband I’m looking at bling on WhiteFlash.com. They were, after all, named “Lord of the Online Rings” haha. It’s not my fault that I’m a girl and diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right? I mean aren’t we all a little bit distracted by shiny things. We will have been married 6 years this November and I still look at my engagement ring every sing day, I kid you not, I look at it shiny and wave my hand around to catch the sunlight when I’m waiting in the car at a red light. I really don’t think it will ever get old.

My husband’s cousin just got married this weekend and so I know his new bride will be having the same attention span issue while she’s admiring her new weddings rings. Her band has diamonds all the way around it, extra sparkle!

My engagement ring is perfect. There is no other ring I would ever want and I’m serious about that, it’s the perfect size, quality and it’s so unique. I love when engagement rings can be made to fit the personality of the lady who will end up wearing them forever. Whiteflash.com is one of the companies who can deliver top-knotch quality diamonds, click here to view Tacori engagement rings. The Tacori rings are stunning, you really have to see them in person to appreciate them, but the photos online are also beautiful. The talented Emmy Rossum, star of Beautiful Creatures, has been seen sporting Tacori jewelry.¬†Dexter actress, Julie Benz rocked two Tacori diamond rings at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Entertainment Weekly Party, sweet!

So when, where, and how do you find these rings? The place where you would get the most help and the best team to work with would be at WhiteFlash. They are open to the public for showroom viewings in Sugarland, Texas, but they also have an exquisite online showroom which includes the Tacori, but also the elegant, intricate Verragio rings which are simply gorgeous!

See I’m not the type of girl who would want to design my own ring, but I did go with my husband to look at rings. There are so many things to think about and so many options to choose from that you really can’t even grasp. I remember having to sit down with someone while they talked about clarity and metal types. I think if I had to design a ring right now it would be a bead set ring, they have such intricate details in how the stones are laid out, but they are also a simple band without anything rising above the ring or on the edges of the ring so it wouldn’t outshine my beautiful engagement ring. My goal would be for it to ultimately end up being an extra band that I would wear below my wedding band I suppose, so more like an anniversary band.

Most people wear anniversary bands on their right hand. Believe it or not, even though I am clearly appreciating my wedding rings, I am not much of a jewelry person. If I did get an anniversary band I’m not sure I would wear it on my right hand. I think, like I said previously, I’d stack it, so it would need to be inline. Someday. Maybe I’ll hint about it for our 25th anniversary, by then we might actually have some money saved ;)

Wedding movies are always hilarious #BigWedding

Why is it that wedding themed movies are always funny? Well I can think of one exception, The Family Stone, I did not enjoy. But for the most part movies based around weddings are typically hilarious. Why? Because the whole planning a wedding just caters to the anxieties of everyone involved. People are taken over my alien pods, I’m convinced, when they begin planning a wedding together. Someone you think probably won’t care about the cake flavor or floral arrangements, well the inevitably do. And then we all know the pain that does into creating seating assignments during the reception. Heaven forbid people aren’t close to the bride and groom!

The above remains very much true for the upcoming movie The Big Wedding starring Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, and Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams.

With an all-star cast led by Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, THE BIG WEDDING is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco.¬† To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future – and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process.

I ask you, why does Robin Williams always play a priest or a preacher or something of that nature? Or am I making this up? For some reason I feel he has played that type of role before and yet he doesn’t seem to be the likely candidate for such a role in real life.

Either way, this is a great cast and I very much hope the movie ends up being amazingly funny. It has all the potential to be.

Glowing Bride…no, seriously

Complete with a Luminex shawl for the bride, Julia Howe, to wear to the beach bonfire after the reception.

Luminex, is a fiber-optic fabric imported from Italy, to give the dress a soft glowing undercoat. It has the ability to light large areas without blinding onlookers.

The dress designer, Alison Lewis, said, “It was decided that the dress should honor the metallic look but with a vintage inspired style. To do this, I focused on creating a soft and glowing design that played with the Victorian shape of the dress. The lighting design was intended to be simple with warm and cool whites.”
