So what qualifies nowadays for a government official to declare a special holiday or some kind? I mean I know there are plenty of national days to celebrate, apple pie day, talk like a pirate day but when it sort of becomes “official” what are the requirements for that and what has to happen?

Celebrating the start of production on season two of WGN America’s hit original series, “Outsiders,” Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto is set to declare Wednesday, May 18 “Outsiders Day,” with a proclamation ceremony at City Hall. Continuing the festivity for the addicting drama, produced by Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios, “Outsiders” star David Morse will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Pittsburgh Pirates game on Tuesday, May 24 at PNC Park.

Production on the 13-episode, hour-long series will commence in and around Pittsburgh, where 530 local crew and primary cast and 1,980 local extras and stand-ins were hired during the filming of the series’ first season.

Cast returning for the second season include David Morse (“Treme,” “Hurt Locker”), Thomas M. Wright (“The Bridge,” “Top of the Lake”), Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Bates Motel”), Joe Anderson (“The Divide,” “Across the Universe”), Gillian Alexy (“The Americans,” “Damages”), Kyle Gallner (“American Sniper,” “Veronica Mars”), and Christina Jackson (“Boardwalk Empire,” “Deception”). Additional cast to be announced.

“Outsiders” is created and written by award-winning playwright Peter Mattei, who executives produces alongside Fedora Entertainment’s Emmy® Award-winner Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me,” “Analyze This”), Touchy Feely Films’ Emmy® Award-winner Paul Giamatti (“John Adams,” “Sideways”), Michael Wimer (“2012,” “Rake”), and Dan Carey (“All Is Bright”). The second season of “Outsiders” will premiere January 2017 on WGN America.

The Man and the Music with Murray #Rocktober

Happy 1st of October!

This is one of my most favorite times of year. It really is, I love the Fall and I love Halloween. Two of my kids were born in October (making May my other favorite time of year for my Finn) and of course my brother’s birthday is also in October. It’s a good month!

billmurrayAdding to the fun this October is the start of ROCK THE KASBAH’s #ROCKTOBER by getting to know legendary rock manager Richie Lanz (Bill Murray) in this brand new behind-the-scenes look – “The Man and the Music.” Hear what some of your favorite rock musicians had to say about Richie, his legacy, and his famous antics throughout the years.

A has-been rock manager from Van Nuys, California stumbles upon a once-in-a-lifetime voice in a remote Afghan cave in Rock the Kasbah, a dramatic comedy inspired by stranger-than-fiction, real-life events and directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson. Richie Lanz (Bill Murray), dumped and stranded in war-torn Kabul by his last remaining client (Zooey Deschanel), discovers Salima Khan (Leem Lubany), a Pashtun teenager with a beautiful voice and the courageous dream of becoming the first woman to compete on national television in Afghanistan’s  version of “American Idol.”  Richie partners with a savvy hooker (Kate Hudson), a pair of hard-partying war profiteers (Danny McBride and Scott Caan) and a hair-trigger mercenary (Bruce Willis) and, braving dangerous cultural prejudices, manages his new protégée into becoming the “Afghan Star.”

Because it would be wrong not to share

Will Smith is one of my most favorite actors of all time.

And so it would be wrong not to wish him a happy birthday and also not to share what his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, did to embarrass him on Facebook.

Ha. So adorable.

Official trailer for Burnt with Bradley Cooper

bradleycooper-burntYes, yes I know Bradley Cooper and his hot model girlfriend Irina Shayk are trending because of their bathing suit escapades, but this post isn’t about orange bikini bottoms.

This is about Philadelphia born Bradley Cooper and his upcoming part as Adam Jones in the comedic movie Burnt.

On behalf of The Weinstein Company, check out the OFFICIAL TRAILER for BURNT – opening in theaters nationwide on October 23, 2015!

Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.

Release: October 23, 2015
Director: John Wells
Written By: Steven Knight, Michael Kalesniko
Rating: TBD
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Daniel Brühl, Matthew Rhys, Uma Thurman and Emma Thompson

Scooby Doo AND KISS Mystery Giveaway #ScoobyDoo

scoobydoo-kissMy husband is a huge KISS fan. I’ve been to a concert with him to see them and he has been to like 30 of their concerts. So when we bought the Scooby-Doo tv-episode which included music from KISS complete with KISS cartoon characters taking stage, he was quite amused. My kids just wanted to know what all the makeup was about. Scooby-Doo being Halloween-ish, meant for an easy explanation.  The weird band makeup is because they are in “character” but the movie was good. The kids love mysteries. I like the crop circle angle in this episode and we were all curious to see how the fire breathing ghosts panned out. I’ll always prefer the Scooby shows of the 70s though. Although I admit I’m okay with the Scooby Gang hanging around for my kids to enjoy.

We could make a “ball” joke here, but tennis puns are quite the racquet

Break Point? Hmm. Not to be confused with Point Break which will be out later this year and shouldn’t have been remade.

Jimmy Price is a reckless man-child on the last leg of his career as a doubles tennis player. When his latest partner drops him, he realizes he’s officially burned all of his bridges on the pro circuit. He decides to make one last ditch effort to revive his career, reaching outside of the tennis world and convincing his childhood partner — his estranged brother Darren, now an apathetic substitute teacher – to team up with him. The mismatched pair, with the help of a unique 11-year-old named Barry, make an unlikely run at a grand slam tournament and are forced to re-discover their game, and their brotherhood.

Snoopy just couldn’t be quiet, but we forgive him

PEANUTSDid you hear? Snoopy leaked THE PEANUTS MOVIE trailer…good grief.
We are huge Peanuts fans in my house. In fact just last weekend Braeden was searching for our copy of the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and I think we watched it 5 times in one afternoon.
This movie stands to be absolutely adorable and fun. Everyone is familiar with the comics, I hope, and hopefully familiar with some of the short animations which exist. Do you remember the Bon Voyage Charlie Brown one? I remember it fondly. My Aunt Linda let me watch it at her house when I spent the night and it’s something I think I’ll always remember. Spending the night with my Aunt Linda and then watching that movie was definitely a highlight of my summers.
In the new PEANUTS, a 3D, CGI animated comedic adventure, Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace! – embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best pal Charlie Brown begins his own epic quest back home.

THE PEANUTS MOVIE hits theaters everywhere on November 6, 2015!
