Snackeez your infomercials do wonders with little kids

finn-snackeez
Finn with his new Snackeez

So the Snackeez infomercials on TV are so compelling that my five-year-old asked for one as a birthday gift last month.

That’s right.

“Mommy, I know what I want for when I turn this many (holds up his entire right hand to show me he is turning 5).”

“What’s that Finn? ”

“I need one of those Snackeez.”

“What in the world is a Snackeez?”

And my friends that is how the story began. So I found out what he was talking about and notice he didn’t say he wanted it, he said he needed it which just cracks me up. But they aren’t expensive and if the kid wants to be able to keep my car clean by eating with a gadget that is all combined then sure, I can look into it.

Thankfully the company sent me not one but TWO Snackeez snacking solutions in exchange for an honest review of their product. We received a pink and blue one and also a blue and green one which you can see pictured with my Finn.

Here are the claims:

  • Snackeez are $9.99 plus $5.99 shipping and you get TWO
  • Hold a 16 oz. drink and your favorite snack, all in one hand
  • Sealed to keep snacks fresh and prevent spills
  • Dishwasher safe

And I can tell you from our use so far all of those bullets hold true.

So what do I think of this Snackeez now that we have two in the house?

snackee-packageWell. For the most part I love them. They are durable and actually quite clever. The drink is on the bottom with a long straw (which you can remove to clean and I love that the straw can come out because otherwise it would be impossible to clean). The snack component sits atop the drink and has a lid that snaps shut tight but is easy enough for the kids to open it.

All-in-all I think the Snackeez are brilliant. My only complaint is that they are HUGE. So they don’t fit in our regular cabinets that hold our plates an glasses. If they were just an inch shorter I think they would still work and then I would be able to put them away. Right now they sit on a rolling cart in our kitchen.

Proud mama moment here on scrink.com

As many of my regular readers know my son Braeden has his own public charity of which he is the founder and it is called 3B Brae’s Brown Bags Foundation. The mission is to help provide homeless and low-income people within our community by giving them “to-go” bags which provide them with clean water, healthy snacks, a message from Braeden and a list of contact information to services who can provide them with further assistance.

Braeden has packed and delivered over 1,200 brown bags in less than a year with the help of many friends. He very much enjoyed the bag packing events hosted by the Delaware Collegiate 4-H and the UD Food Science Club. He has also received a great amount of help from Alpha Phi Omega the service fraternity on campus. Today, Monday, May 19th he will have a table out near the University of Delaware’s Morris Library fountain as he has been invited to participate in the UD Day of Service from 5 until 7pm.

Right now Braeden’s project is one of 27 national finalists to receive the Lead 360 Challenge Jefferson Award for Public Service. The finalists are participating in a contest to earn votes. The top 5 voted projects will attend the national ceremony in Washington, DC next month.

Please help get 3B Brae’s Brown Bags into the running. No registration is required and it takes only two clicks. One click from the link in this email and once click on the orange vote button on Brae’s page. https://lead360.jeffersonawards.org/challenge/3b-braes-brown-bags/

You can vote one per 24 hour period until midnight on Wednesday, May 21st.

Where does the time go

20140206-204040.jpgNormally I have posts scheduled in advance or find time to write a quick review yet somehow this short month of February is flying by at the speed of light!

Writing on scrink is a hobby and something I very much enjoy doing. This site has been going strong for nearly a decade! Of course now I have three kids and a husband and a full-time job. The family keeps be busy and the only time I get to listen to new music is in the car or at the office for my daytime paying job so neither place is appropriate for the music review to be written. Sometimes I squeeze one in during my lunch break but things have been too busy for lunch!

Oh time where have you ticked away to and how do I get more of you?

Bear Claws? It’s not a back scratcher

You should also have one near to your grill because people this tool is perfect for barbequing! You can use them to pull hot meat apart, like pulled pork or you can use them to lift hot items out of roasters without making a mess of yourself and your food.

Day dreaming about puppy dogs

doggishWe lost our doggie over two years ago and since then my middle child, Finn, has brought up the idea of getting a new dog on more than one occasion. However, my husband says we have to wait until we have a bigger home with a larger yard and therefore our Finn has stuffed animals.

Even so every now and then I go to those websites that allow you to look through galleries of adorable puppy dog faces (Check out this Puppy Website) and I get all squishy inside waiting and hoping for a puppy dog to come home and just not leave.

The best place for me to look is Doggish.com because it’s an Australian website and therefore I won’t get all super attached since I live here in the US of A. Anyway, the great thing about Doggish is that they absolutely do not advertise any pups that come from those puppy breeding farms which is wonderful.

Our Mya was a maltese. She lived a rather long life and was super silly almost until her very last breath.

Doggish.com doesn’t just woo you with their cute dog photos they also tell you things you need to know like what to look for in  breeder and even tips before your search actually begins.

So now that my lunch break is over I should probably just stop day dreaming about doggies and get back to work.
