Shawn Mendes from Vine to the Queen’s Birthday Party

Shawn Mendes playing guitarYou can tell that Justin Timberlake was an inspiration for Shawn Mendes’s new self-titled album which released on May 25, 2018 via Island Records. I love me some JT and I love Shawn Mendes, which means this entire album, I mean seriously THE ENTIRE album is amazing. Pretty sure it’ll be on repeat for awhile.

If you haven’t given it a listen please do.  Ed Sheeran co-wrote one of the songs, “Fallin’ All in You.” The track “Like To Be You,” features the amazing Julia Michaels! The song “Lost in Japan” begins with gorgeous piano, reminds me of something you’d hear at a swaggy restaurant back in the 40s, but it quickly turns into a pop track, with a soul vibe. While I sincerely love every song on this album, one of my instant favorites is the one co-written by Ed Sheeran. There’s a track which has a very Prince-esque vibe and it’s great, too. It’s called “Particular Taste.” Mmmm and the song “Why” reminds me of Stevie Nicks’ song “Landslide.” You’ll have to let me know what you think.

Oh who are we kidding, is it not super obvious that I simply cannot pick on track to love!?

The awesome thing about Mendes is that he learned how to play guitar by watching videos online. Then he gained a following in 2013 by uploading himself singing on Vine. He truly has made his career what it is and it all started by uploading videos to a free mobile app after learning how to play guitar online. Can we just let that sick in for a moment?

Fast forward to 2018, Mendes is now included on Time’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. AND when the Queen of England turned 92-years-old he performed at her birthday party, seriously come on, how amazing is that? Plus he’s 19, yes that’s right, 19-years-old, three albums under his belt and millions of fans.

Be yours, be my dear /
So close with you on my lips /
Touch noses, feeling your breath /
Push your heart and pull away, yeah /
Be my summer in a winter day love /
I can’t see one thing wrong

Ooh la la by The Well Pennies

Put the world away / Fight a little longer / Until you feel okay

The Well Pennies are a folk pop duo consisting of husband and wife team Bryan & Sarah Vanderpool.

And I very much enjoy the above song entitled, “Ooh la la.”

Right now there’s all types of chaos and sadness happening in the world and in my personal life. This song inspires hope and I appreciate that, which is why I’m playing it on repeat AND sharing it on the blog. Enjoy!

Official trailer for Burnt with Bradley Cooper

bradleycooper-burntYes, yes I know Bradley Cooper and his hot model girlfriend Irina Shayk are trending because of their bathing suit escapades, but this post isn’t about orange bikini bottoms.

This is about Philadelphia born Bradley Cooper and his upcoming part as Adam Jones in the comedic movie Burnt.

On behalf of The Weinstein Company, check out the OFFICIAL TRAILER for BURNT – opening in theaters nationwide on October 23, 2015!

Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.

Release: October 23, 2015
Director: John Wells
Written By: Steven Knight, Michael Kalesniko
Rating: TBD
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Daniel Brühl, Matthew Rhys, Uma Thurman and Emma Thompson

More Heart, Less Attack

548b167c25c1928fa7f90949e0386f1aNEEDTOBREATHE had a really great year, didn’t they? Grammy nominations and international tours are nothing to sneeze at. I remember writing about them back in 2011. I had only just heard about the band then even though they’ve been recording since 2007. So it’s been a long time coming and now the world can be awed by their saucy musical goodness.

As for their track “More Heart, Less Attack” this is what they say about it.

“In recent months, we have seen many reports of hatred and violence in our streets, in our schools and across the globe. We hope this song echoes those who are praying for peaceful resolutions that will calm the storms around the world.”

Recorded and filmed live in Nashville by Ryan Booth and filmed at KBK Farm courtesy of Cause A Scene.

As for their sentiment of peace I can only wholeheartedly agree. People killing people for killing people. Really! Come on guys. Haven’t you ever heard the saying “two wrongs don’t make a right?”

You should never go about judging someone without a complete story. You should never go out into the world and think you know what it’s like to be someone else.

We’re all the same. We’re all different. We’re all capable of making or breaking someone. I think about my life, I think about my kids, what kind of world do I want them to grow up in? There is so much change I hope happens before my kids are adults. I’m blessed because all three of them already have such free spirits and amazing hearts. We could all learn a lot from kids. A lot.

More Heart. Less Attack.
