Do you remember the bot fights in Big Hero 6? I mean, they were super cool, a small version of Real Steel, and more fun because it was animated. Those fictional movies aren’t so far-fetched anymore.

The Discovery Channel is raising awareness of bot fighting by bringing us an additional two seasons, 80-hours, of BattleBots! You can also check out three previous seasons on Discovery+ if you have their streaming app.

BattleBots Championship

In another major move, BattleBots will stage its 2021 World Championships beginning next month in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas. The iconic BattleBox fight arena has been completely reimagined for the new seasons with extra hazards for the robots – generating even more tension and excitement for viewers.
“I can’t wait to hear the iconic opening words once again, ‘It’s robot fighting time!’ as announced by Faruq across Discovery platforms,” said Scott Lewers, EVP Multiplatform Programming Discovery Factual & Head of Content, Science. “Vegas is one of the few places in the entire world that can match the adrenaline and fun of this competition, and I’m thrilled it will be the backdrop to host these incredibly talented robot designers, builders, and fighters.”

Become a part of the action

For kids interested in joining the action, HexBug has made that a real possibility. You can snag a BattleBot Arena and rival robots on the HexBug website. Come on, where were these when I was a kid? I programmed a plastic green turtle to draw a black line through a maze using language a step above DOS when I was 8-years-old. These BattleBots would have been right up my alley! Although I mean, they still could be. Haha.
But if you would rather watch than play, you can sit in the live audience during taping! Audiences are invited to watch the robot fighting action from BattleBots’ new home in Las Vegas, where BattleBots will tape from August 23 – September 4 at Caesars Entertainment Studios.

Tickets are available now for the public ($40-$125) and can be purchased by visiting the BattleBots ticketing page.
